What is a plantable tag?

Glad you asked! Our tags are printed on eco paper made from post consumer material. The seeds in the paper germinate and grow into plants. The paper itself is biodegradable so no waste is left behind! Just plant, water and watch the wildflowers grow! The seed paper is a combination of Catchfly, Sweet Alyssum, Snapdragon, Bird’s Eye,  Black Eyed Susan, Clarkia and English Daisy. For more information check out https://www.botanicalpaperworks.com/

How do I wash my new blanket?

We recommend washing the blankets in a cold delicate cycle and air drying

So, what actually happens when I buy a blanket?

We are very fortunate to be working directly with The Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre. We personally deliver a variety of blankets to be used for different benefits.  Some are used to do fundraising and others are simply donated to the donation centre where clients come and take them free of charge.  To find out other ways you can help go to https://www.calgarydropin.ca/

Are you fair-trade certified?

We work very hard to make sure our artisans are acknowledged and taken care of, however, we are not officially fair-trade certified. It is a title we are passionate about and would like to continue to work towards.

Do you design any items yourself?

We are consistently down in Ecuador, working closely with the artisans to provide the best product possible. We love to leave a lot of the creativity up the artisans, but we do also collaborate with many items ourselves.  For example, all the blanket scarves were designed by Heartprint Threads, The colors used in a lot of the blankets we hand picked, the leather bags while crafted by Miguel were designed by Heartprint Threads. We are thankful to be able to work together to create.

Is Alpaca itchy?

Alpaca doesn't carry lanolin like sheep's wool which in a few cases can lead to an irritation.  The Alpaca wool fibre is smoother as compared to sheep's wool, under a microscope you can see a huge difference and the feel is incredible. The finer the fibre, the softer it will feel against the skin and less likely to cause an itch or allergic reaction. However, some people are incredibly sensitive to animal fibres of any kind.

Are any Alpaca's harmed in the process?

No, definitely not!  Alpacas are sheared, usually in the spring every year. Alpacas are much cooler in warm weather once the fibre is removed. The fibre will re-grow by the time the weather becomes cold again.

What happens if I select local pick-up?

Well, local pick-up applies to anyone willing to come to us in Calgary and pick-up your purchases, free of charge. If this option works for you, send us an email once the order has been placed and we will arrange a time at your earliest convenience. Because we are based out of our home, it usually will take us less than a day to get your order ready!!

Why the change in materials that make up your blankets?

This is something we thought long and hard about, but to guarantee 30% Alpaca was becoming difficult and we wanted to provide the most accurate quality for our customers. High-grade acrylic is a great alternative that can produce similar benefits to Alpaca. Maintains the softness, warmth and is light-weight, resilient, retains shape and dyes to the bright colours we all love! We also fell in love with the thought of having recycled plastic in our blankets, reducing waste, while enhancing qualities once mixed with other materials.

Do you do Wholesale?
